{"id":780268,"date":"2025-03-26T08:31:25","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T08:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/?p=780268"},"modified":"2025-03-26T09:10:37","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T09:10:37","slug":"odonnellbrowns-glasgow-dockside-housing-plans-okd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/odonnellbrowns-glasgow-dockside-housing-plans-okd","title":{"rendered":"O\u2019DonnellBrown\u2019s Glasgow dockside housing plans OK\u2019d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Councillors on Glasgow City Council\u2019s planning committee gave their unanimous consent yesterday (25 March) to the plans for new homes on a 3.35ha site to the south of the 8.9ha former graving docks in Govan.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, which is also the Glasgow-based practice&#8217;s biggest yet, includes five new buildings four and five storeys tall near Dock No 3 and two buildings at 12 storeys and another on Govan Road at 10 storeys near Dock No 2.<\/p>\n<p>Plans to turn Dock No 1 into a working site for historic ship repair are already under way. Future phases of the masterplan will bring landscaping and a unique heritage park to the former docks.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019DonnellBrown\u2019s masterplan will eventually extend the community of Govan toward the river and Zaha Hadid Architects\u2019 Riverside Museum. A Jacobs-designed pedestrian bridge crossing the Clyde opened last year.<\/p>\n<p><em>Site location:<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d3416.981027718999!2d-4.303209223665396!3d55.8606911298108!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x4888455aed4862a9%3A0x5bda84e3dfbc7499!2sGovan%20Graving%20Docks!5e1!3m2!1sen!2suk!4v1705484870942!5m2!1sen!2suk\" width=\"100%\" height=\"450\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As much as 80 per cent of the overall site footprint will be transferred to community ownership once the scheme is completed.<\/p>\n<p>Restoration and repair work to the Pumphouse \u2013 the sole remaining building on the site \u2013 is ongoing after listed building consent was secured in January 2023.
