The winning team will carry out RIBA Stages 0-to-3 looking at the potential to demolish and rebuild the former church hall to create a new multi-functional community centre.<\/p>\n

The Pinxton Community Hub project aims to deliver a new space for local youth groups and charities while also creating office space and accommodating a community food bank and kitchen for vulnerable people in the area.<\/p>\n

Proposals to refurbish the existing St Helen\u2019s Church Hall complex have already been developed to RIBA Stage 2 however the latest commission will explore demolition and rebuild due to \u2018best value\u2019 considerations and local demand.<\/p>\n

According to the brief: \u2018Bolsover District Council has been awarded \u00a315million of Regeneration Funding, from which \u00a3700,000 has been allocated to refurbish the existing church hall in Pinxton.<\/p>\n

\u2018However, to ensure best value considerations, work is required to explore a demolition and rebuild of the site to meet the ambition locally for a new build facility to meet the service and space demands of the community.<\/p>\n

\u2018The requirements of the building will be to provide a space for a wide variety of community groups including scouts, guides and young infants support groups. There is an ambition to have permanent office space for the South Normanton and Pinxton Development Project which supports children and young people in the area.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is envisaged that a food bank\/community kitchen and caf\u00e9 could be accommodated within the building which allows community support groups to provide food for vulnerable people and provide cooking classes.\u2019<\/p>\n

Pinxton is a small village of around 5,500 residents located in Derbyshire close to the Nottinghamshire boundary.<\/p>\n

The latest \u00a3700,000 project<\/a> \u2013 backed by the local authority\u2019s regeneration arm Dragonfly \u2013focusses on regenerating the disused St Helen\u2019s Church Hall complex on Church Street East in the centre of the settlement.<\/p>\n

Bids for the latest commission will be evaluated 70 per cent on quality and 30 per cent on price.<\/p>\n
