It seeks innovative proposals for a float in the annual festival and parade which will be held this summer in the capital on 5 July.<\/p>\n<p>The project \u2013 backed by Brookfield Properties \u2013 will celebrate the contributions of LGBTQIA+ architects to the built environment. Proposals must respond to this year\u2019s LFA theme of \u2018Voices\u2019 by expressing identity, inclusion, and creativity while demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.<\/p>\n<p>Rosa Rogina, LFA director, said: \u2018Through this design competition, we invite architects and designers to harness the power of creativity in fostering visibility, inclusion, and positive change. We look forward to seeing bold and expressive designs that capture the energy of Pride and celebrate the invaluable contributions of LGBTQIA+ architects to our cities.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Warfield, senior vice president of marketing at Brookfield Properties, said: \u2018Pride is a time to celebrate our community\u2019s achievements and reflect on how we can further support LGBTQIA+ professionals in the sector. By collaborating, listening, and elevating diverse voices, we can build a safer, more inclusive industry\u2014something I, and Brookfield Properties, are incredibly proud of.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1972, the annual Pride parade and festival is the largest LGBTQIA+ event in the UK and the seventh largest in the world, attracting around 1 million people. The London event \u2013 traditionally held in July \u2013 features a large performance area in Trafalgar Square, with a procession of floats and walking groups.<\/p>\n<p>HawkinsBrown <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/hawkinsbrown-wins-lfa-pride-float-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won LFA\u2019s inaugural contest<\/a> for a float representing LGBTQIA+ architects at 2018\u2019s London Pride. Raw Architecture Workshop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/raw-wins-architectural-pride-float-design-contest\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">won LFA\u2019s 2019 contest<\/a> for a float at Pride in London and Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, a group of early-career architects working at Foster + Partners won an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/buildings\/foster-partners-rainbow-after-the-storm-pride-pop-up-pavilion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open call for a \u00a310,000 installation representing LGBTQIA+ architects<\/a> at St Anne\u2019s Church in Soho.<\/p>\n<p>The latest contest seeks \u2018safe, structurally sound, and suitable\u2019 proposals for a float installation that will be mounted on a 7.5-tonne dropside truck during the annual parade.
