{"id":776312,"date":"2025-02-24T17:02:48","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T17:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/?p=776312"},"modified":"2025-02-24T17:07:08","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T17:07:08","slug":"kirklees-council-framework-2025-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/competitions\/kirklees-council-framework-2025-29","title":{"rendered":"Kirklees Council framework 2025-29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teams selected for the four-year framework will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects with the West Yorkshire local authority which provides services to around 422,500 people.<\/p>\n<p>The framework is divided into nine lots covering architecture and multi-disciplinary design, project management, quantity surveying, mechanical and electrical engineering, structural or light civil engineering, lift consultancy, building surveying, clerk of works, and conservation and heritage advice services.<\/p>\n<p>According to the brief: \u2018The scope of services for architecture shall comprise the provision of design services including designs, specifications, advice and information with due regard to functionality, build quality and impact, build-ability, construction safety, operation and maintenance<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The consultant will be required to provide a level of resource to achieve the programme for a specific commission and the resource proposed shall be both competent and suitably qualified to provide the required level of service for the complexity of the specific commission.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Located around 20km southwest of Leeds, the district of Kirklees centres on the historic settlements of Dewsbury, Batley and Huddersfield. The council declared a climate emergency in January 2019 and aims to achieve \u2018net zero\u2019 carbon emissions by 2038.<\/p>\n<p>The latest search for a design team comes three years after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/competitions\/kirklees-low-carbon-housing-pilot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kirklees Council announced it was seeking a design team<\/a> for a 125-home low carbon housing development in Hightown.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Newark-based Influence Landscape Planning and Design was picked by Kirklees Council for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/competitions\/batley-towns-fund-levelling-up\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a314 million upgrade of public realm and council-owned buildings<\/a> across Batley.<\/p>\n<p>Bids for inclusion on the latest framework will be evaluated 60 per cent on quality and 40 per cent on cost.
