Oxford, which is home to the Rhodes Trust educational charity, founded by empire-builder Cecil Rhodes, doubled useable space and improved the site\u2019s environmental performance.<\/p>\n<p>Two more Oxford based projects make the 10-strong shortlist, including Nex\u2019s renovation of the George Gilbert Scott-designed <span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Jackson Library at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nex-architecture.com\/projects\/exeter-college-library-2\/\">Exeter College, Oxford<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/fjcstudio.com\/projects\/reuben-college\/\">fjcstudios\u2019 extension<\/a> to Grade II-listed wings of <\/span><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Reuben College, Oxford.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bristol-based Architecton\u2019s conservation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/bristol-practice-to-refurbish-william-morriss-kelmscott-manor\">restoration of Kelmscott Manor<\/a>, a Grade I-listed limestone building and surrounding farm houses dating back to the 17th century in the Cotswolds, also makes the list.<\/p>\n<p>Other contenders include Nick Cox Architects refurbishment of <span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blenheimpalace.com\/restoration\/projects\/history-of-the-orangery.html\">Blenheim Palace Orangery<\/a>, Hopkins Architects\u2019 Eton School Hall, south coast practice Snug\u2019s healing trauma service centre for women in Southampton, called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snugarchitects.co.uk\/our-work\/hope-street\">Hope Street<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/specification\/a-new-type-of-workspace-for-a-new-way-of-working\">LOM\u2019s headquarters for Santander UK<\/a> in Milton Keynes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Gianni Botsford\u2019s transformation of two barns on the Isle of Wight into a dwelling and studios for artists and writers, <a href=\"https:\/\/giannibotsford.com\/projects\/the-old-byre\/\">The Old Byre<\/a>, and Cooke Fawcett\u2019s restoration of a\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/buildings\/cooke-fawcett-completes-artists-workshop-by-grade-ii-listed-water-mill\">Grade II-listed 17th century water mill<\/a> in Hampshire are also data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">RIBA South jury chair Fergus Feilden, director at Feilden Fowles, said: \u2018This year\u2019s shortlist demonstrates the depth and diversity of architecture in the region, spanning all scales and programmes from the domestic to large-scale commercial, along with numerous educational projects.\u2019<\/div>\n<div data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">He continued: \u2018Collectively, these projects, enriched through detailed, diverse materials, enhance the lives of their users and strengthen the wider community through social programmes and innovative environmental strategies.\u2019<\/div>\n<p>A regional jury will now visit and assess all the shortlisted projects.
