The practice has more schemes among the finalists than any other architect, with a quartet of shortlisted projects, including three office-led developments in King\u2019s Cross<\/a>, in Soho<\/a>, and on Piccadilly opposite the Ritz<\/a>, as well as a restored town hall<\/a> for Tower Hamlets.<\/p>\n

Other contenders include a retrofit of historic east London buildings for film and TV studios<\/a> by Gort Scott with Freehaus, a rethink of Southwark almshouses<\/a> by Witherford Watson Mann, an inner-city boys\u2019 school<\/a> by Hawkins\\Brown, and an 11-home affordable housing scheme<\/a> by Archio, led by a Community Land Trust on surplus council land.<\/p>\n

Cultural projects range from the Young V&A transformation<\/a> by AOC Architecture and De Matos Ryan and SIRS Architects\u2019 Gilbert & George Centre,<\/a> to DRDH\u2019s Storyteller<\/a>, combining a library, cinema and housing in Sidcup.<\/p>\n

Inner-city houses on the shortlist include a Brutalist townhouse in Kensington<\/a> by Pricegore Architects and a backland bungalow in Haringey<\/a> by Satish Jassal Architects.<\/p>\n

dRMM has two headline-hitting projects competing for an award: WorkStack<\/a>, a cantilevered office block in Charlton; and Wick Lane<\/a>, a hybrid development in Hackney Wick.<\/p>\n

EPR\u2019s restoration of the OWO,<\/a> a historic war office in Whitehall, has made the cut, as well as the building\u2019s public courtyard and pavilion by DaeWha Kang Design<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

BDP is the only practice to have a project on each of the three RIBA regional shortlists announced so far, this time with its Oak Cancer Centre in Sutton. The practice also has schemes in contention in the East<\/a> and South East regions<\/a>, revealed earlier this week.<\/p>\n

RIBA regional director of London, John Nahar, said: \u2018There is such a diverse range of work in this year\u2019s selection, from the restoration of some of London’s most recognised landmarks to high-quality social housing and innovative live\/work solutions.<\/p>\n

All projects shortlisted for RIBA regional awards will be visited by a jury, with the winners announced this spring.<\/p>\n

The winners will then be considered for several RIBA Special Awards, including the RIBA Sustainability Award and RIBA Building of the Year, before being considered for an RIBA National Award, to be announced in the summer.<\/p>\n

The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize \u2013 the UK\u2019s best new building \u2013 will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning projects and announced in September.<\/p>\n

The Stirling Prize winner will be announced in October.<\/p>\n
