{"id":772092,"date":"2025-01-29T08:59:45","date_gmt":"2025-01-29T08:59:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/?p=772092"},"modified":"2025-01-30T08:41:06","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T08:41:06","slug":"sinkhole-appears-at-pilbrow-partners-edge-tower-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/sinkhole-appears-at-pilbrow-partners-edge-tower-site","title":{"rendered":"Sinkhole appears at Pilbrow &#038; Partners\u2019 EDGE tower site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Southwark confirmed to the AJ that a hole running directly alongside the practice\u2019s 27-storey EDGE tower, which is currently being built on Fenning Street, appeared on 6 January.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the sink hole is unknown and the council has added in a statement that it is monitoring the situation along with Mace, the site contractor.<\/p>\n<p>A council spokesperson said: \u2018The exact cause of the sinkhole remains under investigation and when the investigation is concluded, we will share findings.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The council\u2019s engineering services are in close liaison with the team from Mace [and] Work at the construction site continues with the hole being continually monitored seven days a week.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mace is also carrying out stabilising works and repairs, which Southwark said could take \u2018weeks\u2019. The entrance to the construction site is understood to have been relocated.<\/p>\n<p>The hole was visible to passers-by up until last weekend when hoardings were put up around the site, <em>Southwark News<\/em> reported.
