{"id":769378,"date":"2025-01-09T07:08:17","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T07:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/?p=769378"},"modified":"2025-01-13T10:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-01-13T10:27:09","slug":"enter-aj-small-projects-2025-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/enter-aj-small-projects-2025-now","title":{"rendered":"Enter AJ Small Projects 2025 today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The annual AJ Small Projects is a fantastic opportunity to publish and recognise schemes on more modest budgets.<\/p>\n<p>From home extensions to workspaces, pavilions to shop fit-outs, restaurants and small houses, it is a chance to celebrate great architecture on a budget, as well as feature smaller schemes that are the bread and butter of many practices all over the country.<\/p>\n<p>It also proves a fantastic showcase for the depth of design talent across the UK and highlights the work of often new and smaller practices, many of which have later gone on to greater \u2013 or larger \u2013 things.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factfile\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/smallprojects.architectsjournal.co.uk\/AJSP2025\/en\/page\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enter now<\/a><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/aj-small-projects-25-years-of-winners\">AJ Small Projects first launched in 1995<\/a> with Anthony Grimshaw Associates winning the inaugural award for Garden Gazebo. Since then, costs may have risen but the intention has remained the same: to give much-deserved recognition to schemes realised at a more modest budget.<\/p>\n<p>Run in association with our long-time sponsor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marley.co.uk\/\">Marley<\/a>, AJ Small Projects 2025 celebrates completed projects with a contract value of \u00a3399,000 and under \u2013 the maximum cost raised again to reflect inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/hayatsu-architects-wins-2024-aj-small-projects-award\">Hayatsu Architects with Grizedale Arts<\/a> won the 2024 award for the Farmer\u2019s Arms Cold Food Store. They also acknowledged the embrace of the project by the Grizedale Arts charity and the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Artefact received a highly commended for its Triangle House project while the Sustainability Award was awarded to Topo Architects for The NewBridge Project in Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p>Commonbond Architects took the People\u2019s Choice Award, for its Gardenhide Studio.<\/p>\n<p>Is your project eligible to enter? It must have been completed between July 2023 and January 2025 and it must have cost \u00a3399,000 or under.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to enter AJ Small Projects is <strong>31 January 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the 30th year of AJ Small Projects, we\u2019re also exclusively offering all entrants a <strong>40 per cent<\/strong> discount on AJ subscriptions. You will receive this discount code upon submitting your entry.<\/p>\n<p>As with past years, all projects entered will feature in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajbuildingslibrary.co.uk\/\">AJ Buildings Library<\/a> and our shortlisted projects will be published in a special AJ Small Projects issue of the AJ which comes out in April.<\/p>\n<p>Following this, there will be a celebratory event and exhibition in May to announce the winner of the 2025 award.<\/p>\n<p>What are the judges looking for? They look for projects that perfectly fit their brief but also go beyond it. They must demonstrate big ideas but also sit lightly on the planet, embodying an emphasis on sustainability.
