Greenwich Council is forking out \u00a38 million to fix a crumbling car park above a Sainsbury\u2019s in Woolwich \u2026 more than five years after it was considered for demolition.<\/p>\n

Concrete chunks have been dropping off the Brutalist beast in Calderwood Street \u2018for some time\u2019, according to local journalists at Murky Depths, and both of the building\u2019s lifts have been given a terminal diagnosis of between 12 and 24 months.<\/p>\n

Moreover, flat-owners in the neighbouring Vista House \u2013 already salty due to steep parking fare hikes in recent years \u2013 will have to cough up for some of the remediation costs, according to the council.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson told Astragal that the council is ‘committed to keeping the car park open during the repairs’.<\/p>\n
