Beedier Social Media Zeitgeist<\/a> counts followers on Instagram, X, Facebook and LinkedIn for \u2018every architecture studio\u2019 in the UK, publishing its findings every three months.<\/p>\n

Its latest report shows Zaha Hadid Architects has an impressive 3 million worldwide followers across the four platforms.<\/p>\n

Second is Foster + Partners \u2013 the UK\u2019s largest practice by number of architects \u2013 with nearly 1.4 million followers, the majority of which (582,000) are on Linkedin.<\/p>\n

There is then a significant gap before the next three most popular: John Pawson<\/a> (455,000 total followers), David Chipperfield Architects<\/a> (297,000) and Heatherwick Studio<\/a> (203,000).<\/p>\n

The website’s creators say they have \u2018tracked down\u2019 around 7,500 companies in UK and Ireland that list architecture as their main service and found that \u2018about 5,000 of those have some kind of social media presence\u2019. Those with more than 1,000 followers appear on the list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Beedier<\/a>, UK architects collectively have 21.2 million followers across the four most widely used social media platforms, with Instagram the most followed, accounting for more than half of all followers.<\/p>\n

Of all the practices in the league table, 95 per cent have Instagram accounts with an average of 4,400 followers per account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The top 10 firms listed account for 28 per cent of all follower counts, with more than 6 million followers between them.<\/p>\n

Regionally, those with London headquarters have a combined total of 13.9 million followers making up more than two thirds (68 per cent) of the total follower count.<\/p>\n

Surprises on the list include Initiate Architecture<\/a>, described by Beedier as \u2018a one-person start-up studio based in Bridgend, with an Instagram presence that is going viral\u2019.<\/p>\n

Also in the top 10 is Koto Design<\/a>, a small studio in Devon with a highly focused social media strategy and diversified practice\u2019 which also produces prefabricated timber cabins.<\/p>\n

One-off house specialist Str\u00f6m Architects<\/a> in Lymington is ranked 12th on the list with its homes ‘in a Scandinavian Modernist style … very popular on the socials\u2019.<\/p>\n

In terms of the practices showing the largest increases in followers, Beedier picks out Peter Cook\u2019s Crab Studio<\/a>, which showed 25 per cent growth in the socials this quarter, and Hackney\u2019s start-up studio Material Cultures<\/a>, which saw its numbers rise by 23 per cent in the last quarter.<\/p>\n

Fraher & Findlay<\/a>, and IF_DO<\/a> both \u2018continue to show great follower growth [and] are rising fast\u2019 while other emerging talents also saw impressive rises in their online following.<\/p>\n

Beedier highlighted the growth at Studio Colab<\/a> (60 per cent increase), Built Works<\/a> (56 per cent), Of Architecture<\/a> (47 per cent), Northern Bureau for Architecture<\/a> (38 per cent), Variant Office<\/a> (37 per cent), Mibe Architects<\/a> (37 per cent) and Format Architects<\/a> (36 per cent).<\/p>\n

Beedier was founded by writer and designer Robert Park. Its\u00a0Social Media Zeitgeist<\/a> rankings, which were first published late last year, will next be updated in June.<\/p>\n
