The work is grounded and urban, with contexts for projects ranging from fashionable Brick Lane to Walthamstow and Ely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The show<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the second year running, Cambridge relocated its end-of-year show from its usually gentrified confines to the messy guts of east London\u2019s Shoreditch Town Hall. The venue fits the character of the work produced \u2013 explorative, characterful, tangible and bold. The energy of the students is evident not just in the work, largely represented through beautiful sketches and models, but in the show itself, curated and put together by the student society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The stand-out unit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Studio Two (Tom Emerson with Max Beckenbauer) asks big questions in a specific way: to what extent is the architect an enabler focusing on longterm strategies allowing short-term improvisation; and to what extent are they the master craftsmen obsessing about resolution and detail? Working in the context of a former brewery and veneer factory next to the Chisenhale Gallery, students added new layers of meaning to the industrial shed that remained.
